Kirby Brown at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals

Here are a few quick pics from the great Will Bolton (http://wbolton.com) from the Kirby Brown sessions at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals. Got to meet and spend some time with some heroes of mine on this trip – Spooner Oldham (keyboardist on Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, etc hits) and Rick Hall (legendary producer with his thumb on over 350 million singles sold worldwide). Can’t wait for everyone to hear this special forthcoming album from Kirby Brown: Songs for Re-Entry. Headed to my main spot back in Dallas for overdubs: Modern Electric Sound Recorders.

Dovetail – MOUNT KARMA | Granada Theater CD Release

In January 2010, after Kirby Brown’s Child of Calamity, I began working on my second full length album with the brilliant Dovetail. Fronted by Philip Creamer’s mind-blowing voice, the band is full of writers and geniuses alike. Needless to say, this was the easiest decision ever to work with a band. Throughout the next two years, together we found Dovetail’s sound. Mount Karma represents not just the band’s journey, but also my own self-discovery of how notes, sonics, and voices fit together in my own unique way. From the most eloquent studios, to bathrooms, to recording outdoors, the album was tracked anywhere we could find solace and/or a vibe. Come take the journey to Mount Karma!
